More food fun! Good thing there’s a groceries store near the college. I love experimenting with food photography. Input would be greatly appreciated from my photography allies 🙂
(Again minimum Photoshop here.)
So here’s a little fashion session I experimented with. I still have a lot to learn. I did have a great time shopping for the outfits with the help of my family (loulou, nana and mati). My favorite makeup artist as well, Noémie Belime, and lastly but not the least Janet Chan as my helper and stress manager. I love the people surrounding me!! Enjoy and don’t be shy to share your opinion…
Food photography assignment for Applied Location Photography class.
Cake in a mug which I made on the spot. I used a small softbox as main light and the window light as fill.

My idea was to show people and their pets at home.
Being a cat owner myself, and having had quite a few animals growing up I know the relationship between pet and owner evolves to something more.
I lived in Portugal for 7 years and when I came back to Canada, bringing my cat with me was very important. I felt I was leaving my friend behind. It was heartbreaking. So as soon as it was possible, I got my cat flown to Canada.
I`ve also taken a day off from work when one of my cats was put to sleep. I was loosing my best friend.
Our pets become our friends, an extra member of the family. We care for them, talk to them, worry for them. They bring us comfort and warmth. They never complain. They are always there. They make us laugh and cheer us up after a hard day.
In my series I photographed people that were willing to show this special relationship with there cats and dogs.
I would have wished to show a bigger variety of animals but seeing the limitation of time, I went with the most common, which worked out well, because I think the viewer can better related to these relationships.
I chose to do a narrative series for my composite. I wanted to enter the world of Alice in Wonderland and chose to do so by illustrating the part she changes size by eating or drinking in the strange world of wonderland.
For these images I photographed the background and the subject, Alice, separately. I shot outside at the same time of day in order to get the most similar lighting possible. For the second image where Alice is bigger than the room, I placed the model in a makeshift box so she would have the proper position and feel.
Montreal travel/touristic photography.
These pictures could be seen in a Montreal tourism website of travel guide.
This cityscape was shot at the “parc de la cité du havre”, where I find we get a beautiful view of Montreal. I decided to shoot Montreal at night because I like the glow all the lights give to the city.
Bagel BLT (very tasty) from the “Magasin Général” in Old Montreal. I shot a variety of pictures for the food shot but this half eaten one just seem so tasty 🙂
Shot as well in the “Magasin Général” in Old Montreal. Montreal has a wide choice of good restaurants and cafés, all from various cultures.
Parallel horizontal and vertical lines.
Residential house in Old Longueuil.
Time of day.
Residential building in Longueuil.
For this assignment I learned that not all buildings a good for this technique and that reflections in the windows are your enemy. I shot the exercise three times and finally shot the 6-plex where I live.
Composite. With different exposures I was able to get details through the windows.
